About me
Software engineer. Security enthusiast. Music nerd. Not a dog.
I’m a software engineer with a growing focus on security in modern web applications. My background is in C#, .NET, Angular, and Azure, where I’ve worked on large public-facing systems. Lately I’ve found myself just as interested in what’s happening behind the scenes as I am in the code itself, especially how systems behave in real-world conditions.
More recently, I’ve been working alongside a NetSec team on a bot detection and traffic analysis project. That’s involved digging through logs, building dashboards, and trying to make connections and spot patterns in data that don’t quite belong. It’s been a practical way to understand how attackers think and how systems respond outside of 'normal' operation, and I’ve learned a lot about WAFs, as well as traffic routing and management in an enterprise environment.
Outside of work, I spend a lot of time in a home lab setup, experimenting with networking, packet captures, DNS filtering, and web application testing. I’m particularly interested in defensive security and understanding how things break, then figuring out how to make them more resilient.
Earlier in my career I worked in spatial science and I’m a registered Associate Land Surveyor in Queensland, which gave me a strong foundation in precision and problem solving. I've always enjoyed learning how to do hard things, and I've competed in Brazilian JiuJitsu at the state level and I have toured the east coast as a part-time musician playing lead guitar. I’m ready to complete a Postgraduate Certificate in Cyber Security and considering continuing on to complete the Masters, and have been really enjoying being back in formal study while continuing to build practical skills in cyber security.
I'm a terrible fisherman, guitar player and adventure dirt bike rider, but that doesn't stop me from enjoying all three on a regular basis.
